Liberia's Economic Situation

The long lasting civil war lead to a desolate structure in economics and to immense subsequent damage, especially concerning the social geography of Liberia's population and infrastructure. Besides the high unemployment of 85 %, corruption forms an impediment to economic growth.

In 2006 the Gross Inland Product was USD 605'200 millions. The main export goods are diamonds, ore, rubber, timber, coffee, cocoa.

By estimate of the World Bank in 2007, the Per Capita Income was USD 150. So the African State is one of the countries depending on international help in the long term.
